My background:

Choosing a therapist to support you through healing and self-discovery can feel like a significant step.

My name is Oliver, and I am an integrative counsellor. You can read more about my approach below, but I’d first like to offer a little about who I am and how I work.

I am a fully qualified and regulated counsellor. I began my career in law, but through my own therapeutic experience and personal growth, I retrained to become a therapist.

I have also taught counselling skills and professional practice at both college and university level, supporting trainee counsellors in their understanding of theory, ethics, and regulation.

Today, I work exclusively in private practice, offering counselling both in person and online. I value creating a calm, respectful space where clients feel heard, understood, and supported at their own pace.

Our first session:

This will start with a brief discussion of the counselling agreement, along with any questions or concerns you may have. We will then talk about any previous counselling experience, your thoughts about therapy, and what has brought you here.

I work holistically, recognising the connection between mind and body. While our sessions will primarily involve talking therapy, we may also explore whether physical habits, patterns, or lifestyle factors are contributing to emotional distress. Where appropriate, I may also draw on guidance aligned with NICE recommendations for anxiety and depression.

I work best with people who feel ready to begin a process of self-understanding and change. If that resonates with you, I invite you to read the final section below about my approach, and to get in touch using the contact form. I look forward to hearing from you.

My methodology:

If you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or simply need someone to listen, you’re not alone. My counselling approach is welcoming and adaptable, offering a safe, confidential space where we can gently explore what’s going on for you—at your own pace. Together, we’ll work with whatever you bring, whether its anxiety, stress, relationship worries, or those moments when life just feels too much.

As an integrative counsellor, I draw from a blend of psychodynamic, person-centred, and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) approaches to shape our sessions around your individual needs. Alongside talk therapy, I also consider your wider wellbeing—looking at the role of physical activity, nutrition, sleep, and lifestyle in supporting emotional balance and resilience. My aim is to address the whole picture of your health, recognising how mind and body influence one another.

You’ll find our work collaborative and grounded in genuine connection—your voice and experiences matter. Together, we’ll create space for reflection, growth, and even moments of lightness. Whether we laugh, explore deeply held emotions, or sit quietly with what’s hard, we’ll move through it together. People come to me for many reasons, and my goal is to help you find clarity, strength, and hope—nurturing both your mental and physical wellbeing along the way.

“Almost all humans have the goals of staying alive and being happy.  Too many people are unaware that it is not outer events or circumstances that will create happiness; rather, it is our perception of events and of ourselves that will create, or uncreate, positive emotions.  People who are aware that they control their emotional and behavioural destinies have a far greater chance of experiencing more joy, less misery, and a healthy stability, even when coping with hardships.  How?  They choose to think in rational, realistic, and life-enhancing ways.  In so doing, appropriate and healthy emotions and actions result.”
